4 words that can change your life

As most of you are well aware, I have been trying to find more meaning in life. 2016 has been a great spiritual journey for me and I have made great progress in getting centered and feeling happier.

In this post, I thought of sharing a particularly easy practice with you. It’s free, effortless, and one of the quickest ways to get some mental peace.

Ho’oponopono

Years back, I had read about an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness called Ho’oponopono. This week, I decided to try it out. And I cannot stop doing it!

The concept is based on the premise that everything that happens in your world is created by you, via your thoughts. And any problem, and I mean absolutely any (including those that are being faced by your loved ones) can be resolved by sending love, and forgiveness towards the problem area, and thereby by healing yourself.

I admit it sounds a little out there, but there is a very interesting story that compelled me to try it. The story says that repetition of these words by a certain Dr. Len actually cured his patients of their mental illness.

What words are these?

Simple, everyday words that can create magic. These are –

I’m Sorry
Please forgive me
I love you
Thank you

Say these in any order you like and see the situation get better.

My experience

I had been facing a few issues with an old friend. One night, I just repeated these words thinking about that friend. And the very next morning, I woke up with a conciliatory text message from them on my phone.

More importantly, these words calmed my mind and helped me get rid of disturbing thoughts. A few minutes after starting, I wasn’t even thinking about the situation – I was just mindlessly repeating these words while doing my work.

Try it out. Start with something small. You have nothing to lose.
And much to gain 🙂

  1. Thanks Sonam! This almost feels like an answer to an issue that has sapped me of all energy and confidence, and has left me feeling extremely low and anxious. I don’t know how your advice will help me, but I want to believe it will. I’ll definitely try, starting today.
For every person you touch with your positive words, may God bless you ten times over.
